It's a rarity on menus but it's always fun to see how restaurants prepare it, usually table-side with a lot of flair. For dessert, we passed on creme brulee and carrot cake and triple chocolate cake in favor of Bananas Foster for Two with dark rum, banana liqueur, brown sugar, butter and bananas over vanilla bean ice cream. I couldn't resist an eight-ounce Wagyu filet mignon with bearnaise sauce, bacon-wrapped shrimp, baked potato and tempura green beans. With bearnaise sauce, roasted garlic mashed potatoes and creamed spinach with bacon. ![]() My wife chose a six-ounce Wagyu filet mignon from the award-winning Tarpoly Creek Ranch in South Queensland, Australia. At the Columbus address, we started with jumbo shrimp cocktail, Maryland crab cakes, a bowl of King crab and corn bisque and Caesar salad with romaine lettuce, croutons, parmesan and Caesar dressing. We have never been disappointed at any Eddie Merlot's location. Open from 4 to 9 Monday through Thursday, 5 to 10 on Friday and Saturday and 4 to 8 on Sunday, it is a popular destination to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries and other special occasions. ![]() There are three locations in our hometown of Chicago and other locations in Boston, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Detroit and Denver. My wife and I are familiar with Eddie Merlot's chain. Lyra Drive, in the Polaris Fashion Place, west of the intersection of I-71 and Route 750, Eddie Merlot's serves aged steaks, premium Wagyu steaks, seafood and a lengthy wine list in plush and posh and elegant surroundings. The minute I realized that Eddie Merlot's had a location in Columbus, Ohio, I knew my wife and I were guaranteed a wonderful dinner at one of the nation's premier restaurant chains during our week-long visit to the city.
